Lingua Franca is an interdisciplinary performance company that creates  alert and visceral performance in regional NSW.

 

Taking its name from a language that is adopted as a common vocabularly between people of different backgrounds - Lingua Franca was founded in 2012 by artists Alison Plevey and Adam Deusien. After creating work separately, they began a collaboration, integrating their skills, performance training and creative processes leading to the imagining of original physical and theatrical work.

Founded in Bathurst, the Central West remains Lingua Franca's regional home. With our artists also living and working across NSW, including in Canberra and region, and Newcastle and the Hunter, the company maintains a truly inter-regional practice. 

 

 

With our work, we:

• engage with regionally based professional artists to create excellent performance work guided by multidisciplinary collaboration.

• create urgent and provocative original physical theatre driven by the values of rigour, inquisitiveness, candour and adventure.

• are committed to presenting work in both regional and metropolitan contexts exposing audiences to the quality of regional arts practice.

• enable the growth youth and community artists through training, creative workshops and the production of new work
